Airport Technician Job description
Under the direction of the Manager, Accounting Operations, this position is responsible for serving as the technical lead in accounts receivable and accounts payable, assisting in providing training, guidance, and workload assignments to accounting Technician staff to accomplish accurate and efficient processing of accounts receivable and account payable. This position will serve as the technical lead on the ERP system, helping to implement and test the system, as well as providing suggestions for continuous improvement, testing processes, and troubleshooting issues. This position will assist with reconciling the AR sub-ledger to the GL on a regular basis. Provides backup to AP Technician. This position will work closely with Finance, IT, and vendors to provide excellent customer service.
Primary Functions
- Assists in coordinating and scheduling job assignments within AR and AP. Monitors and modifies AR and AP processes to comply with Port policies. Reviews AR and AP transactions for accuracy and compliance with policies and state laws.
- Assists in the implementation of new software and revised processes affecting AR and AP. Trains other Technicians on the system or process changes.
- Serves as the technical lead and subject matter expert for AR and AP. Responsible for understanding how Maximo interfaces with GP in order to troubleshoot AP issues.
- Capable of performing all tasks related to the accounts payable and accounts receivable process. Will perform more complex duties in the areas when needed.
- Reconciles the sub-ledger to the GL. Provides information to the Manager for adjustments as necessary.
- Assists in annual audits by gathering documentation and information requested by auditors.
- Identifies and analyzes problems related to documentation, communication, or system errors; troubleshoots complex issues as they arise; interprets and assists in developing policy and procedures.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or equivalent is required. Knowledge of accounting principles is required, and experience working with general ledger accounts is preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years experience in an accounting environment including the processing of AP/AR or related experience required.
Additional Requirements
Must have a working knowledge of standard accounting procedures. Must be familiar with computer systems, use of a PC and basic data entry. Must be proficient in using a 10-key calculator and other office machines. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. Accuracy, organization, and excellent attention to detail is also required. Must have an excellent record of attendance.

Proof will be required prior to employment. The successful candidate must possess (or obtain within 30 days of employment) a valid driver's license. Candidate must be able to successfully complete a post-offer substance abuse test (includes both drug and alcohol) and background investigation. Candidate must also be able to obtain/maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), which is a program managed by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
