Port Operator

To actively engage in the mooring/unmooring of vessels, the movement of vehicles and passengers through the Port, operating plant and equipment safely and responsibly

Accountabilities

• To work safely and responsibly in all aspects of the role. Assist in the compilation of Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work and participate in Tool Box Talks
• Authorized to take part in mooring/unmooring operations and to operate cargo handling plant and port infrastructure including Front Loading shovels, Fork Lift Trucks, Skidsteers, telehandlers, tug masters, RoRo ramp, and passenger access bridge.
• To work as part of the ferry handling team and assist in general port operations and stevedoring.
• Ensure good housekeeping on the Port as directed by supervisors
• Work flexibly to permit full operational benefit of labor

Skills, experiences, qualifications, and competencies

Essential

• To work in compliance with the ABP Safety, Environmental, and Security policies
• Aptitude to learn new skills and have a flexible outlook
• Ability to fit into and enhance the existing Plymouth operations team
• Be physically fit and be able to carry out manual tasks

Ideal

• Existing Licence holder for operational plant
• Previous experience working in a port or other similar marine environment
