Operations Manager Job description

Here at Associated British Ports we are currently recruiting for a Planning and Consents officer. This is a hybrid type role and the location is based in the Humber region.

For this role, we are seeking one of two types of candidates. You may not have worked in consent and planning previously, but have a degree in a relevant environmental, marine, projects or planning subject, have an interest in the environment/planning along with excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Alternatively, you could have experience in planning and consents, terrestrial/marine or both and you are looking for a new challenge that will give you lots of variety. The role can flex to the abilities and experience of the successful candidate.

This is a newly created role to support our ambitious growth plans. You will report to the Head of Commercial and be part of the regional planning and consents team which are small, friendly and supportive.

You will provide support on all aspects of consenting to encompass the terrestrial and marine environment. You will also support and lead day-to-day planning and consenting issues essential to the operation of the business across ABP’s four ports in the Humber region. This includes being part of the project planning and consenting workstreams for all of ABP’s major capital investments in the region which are currently in excess of £350M.

The ports industry is unique and exciting, and the Humber region is the biggest port complex in the UK, handling millions of tonnes of cargo every year across many different industries.

We offer a competitive salary and great benefits including 26 days’ holiday (plus bank holidays), private healthcare, an annual bonus, a holiday purchase scheme, an excellent pension and lots of employee discount offers!
