Airport Technician Job description

As a Technical Service Employee at Port of Amsterdam, you and your colleague are responsible for the maintenance of vessels of the Harbor Master's Division. This concerns technical faults that must be resolved (urgently) and periodic maintenance according to fixed working methods and checklists. You are also responsible for scheduling the maintenance and cleaning of the fleet. With this you try to make and keep the vessels as good and reliable as possible.

In addition, you ensure that the stock of fleet parts and tools is always in order. You make the budget for this and you arrange the purchasing and invoicing. Finally, you have an advisory role. For example, users of vessels can contact the Technical Service for technical questions about ships. You also advise on possible (technical) improvements and development opportunities for your own fleet.

The Technical Service consists of three colleagues, with whom you work a lot. It goes without saying that you have regular contact with internal and external parties involved. This includes the Port Officer (users of the fleet) and suppliers of materials, tools and the yard for maintenance.

What is required?

  • Technical MBO 3 or MBO 4 education, preferably marine mechanical engineering / Marof, combustion engine technology, mechanical engineering, diesel technology, or similar
  • Preferably a forklift diploma, VHF certificate, and major navigation license
  • Relevant work experience within Diesel Technology and/or Rolling Stock
  • Experience as a mechanic in the marine engineering
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatic/electrical marine installations
  • Knowledge of and experience with mechanical and electronic is a plus
  • Willing to take additional courses
  • You are independent and customer-oriented, you can plan well and work in a team

What do you get?

  • €2,322 - €3,396 gross p/m, depending on knowledge and experience
  • 13th month
  • 36-hour work week
  • 158.4 holiday hours based on full-time (public holidays, including Good Friday, 1 and 5 May)
  • Personal development budget
  • Only day shifts, but you don't stick to office hours too firmly
  • Annual contract with the intention of a permanent appointment
