Aircraft Technician Job description

The Aircraft Support Technician will be responsible for executing the interior maintenance program. Duties will include identifying, repairing and replacing components primarily pertaining to the interiors of the aircraft. The position will be covering a 24-hour operation with primary responsibility to work the overnight shift. The position will work directly with Lead Technicians to modify and repair cabin interiors. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Inspecting, servicing, testing, repairing, modifying, removing, and replacing aircraft and cabin components
  • Perform or assist in the open-up/close-up, disassembly, lubrication, cleaning, repair, and servicing of aircraft and cabin by utilizing appropriate tooling, chemicals, and equipment
  • Complete required paperwork accurately using procedures set forth in the General Maintenance Manual (GMM)
  • Review and interpret online aircraft manuals 
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and tool familiarity
  • Ability to work the primarily overnight shift
  •  Ability to communicate effectively; in both oral and written communication 
  • Ability to frequently crawl, bend, kneel, climb, stoop and work in confined spaces 
  • Ability to work under pressure in a team environment 
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets JetBlue’s insurance standards  
  • Ability to remain alert to moving vehicles, aircraft, and situational awareness 
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge  
  • Depending on location, may need to acquire and maintain a United States Customs Clearance  
  • Available for travel (10%)
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic disciplines as they apply to aircraft systems
  • Ability to drive tugs, trucks, taxi aircraft, lift trucks, snorkel lifts, boom lifts and tractor and/or other maintenance vehicles 
  • Airframe and/or Powerplant License
  • Prior Aircraft maintenance experience

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
