Security Officer Job description

Reporting to the Security Training Manager you will be responsible for the delivery of all Aviation Security Training at LBA, ensuring compliance with the National Aviation Security Training Programme (NASTP), National Aviation Security Programme (NASP), and LBA Security Standards and Training Quality Framework.聽

Principal Accountabilities聽

Corporate聽

  • To assist the Security Management Team in delivering corporate strategy in relation to aviation security to ensure all passengers receive a consistently high-quality service to create an atmosphere that encourages commercial spending and generates repeat business.聽

Operational聽

  • To assist the Security Management Team by delivering operational standards for security training that meet the regulatory requirements and complement the business strategic objectives.聽
  • To build and maintain effective working relationships with all staff both internally and externally.聽

Aviation Security聽聽

  • To create, and update training materials and media, deliver Security and Corporate training as required by the Security Training Manager in accordance with the DfT legislation and business objectives, and provide training to external companies where required.聽
  • To ensure the standard of security training remains effective and fully compliant with the relevant EU/ Department for Transport (DfT) Directions and the relevant training syllabus contained within the NASP.聽
  • Implement and maintain the LBA security training program
  • Conduct all mandatory and non-mandatory security training and annual refresher training as required whilst performance managing failure
  • Ensure accurate training records are maintained and provide reports and statistics to the Security Training Manager as required
  • To ensure that the training resources are maintained and available as required
  • To provide advice and support to the wider Airport community regarding training or compliance with security regulations and procedure
  • To provide support, if required, to the Security Training Manager in regulatory audits and inspections
  • Where external non-compliance is identified, support the Security Training Manager in investigations and recommend corrective action where necessary, and perform checks to ensure rectification processes are in place and working effectively
  • Where internal non-compliance is identified, carry out remedial action and provide feedback as part of the Airport鈥檚 rectification response to the regulator as required
  • To coordinate, collate and where necessary, undertake, assessment checks on Officer standards
  • To support the improvement of standards and development of skills within the security operation through monitoring, overt and covert training, and coaching
  • To undertake the collection and dissemination of performance monitoring data to DfT and to use this data to provide remedial training or action for individuals where necessary.
  • To provide feedback and remedial training following covert testing and to ensure actions are recorded onto a tracker
  • 聽In conjunction with the Security, Training Manager oversee EU/ DfT mandatory threat image recognition training delivered via e-learning聽
  • When required deliver specific training related to the installation of new technology and/or procedures
  • To maintain personal competency by attendance at DfT mandatory courses
  • Working on initiative and being proactive in forward planning, delivering fast-paced responses to tight deadlines
  • To carry out any other duties as may be reasonably expected

Skills/ Knowledge/ Competencies

  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant regulatory requirements
  • Interpersonal skills, communication skills, ability to persuade and influence
  • Ability to plan and organize, together with a methodical and detailed approach
  • Aviation Security Manager level 3 essential
  • Level 3 Award in Education accreditation (or equivalent) is essential
  • RFX Instructors qualification essential
  • Experience of training in aviation security within an airport setting is preferable
