Supervisor Specialist Job description

The Supervisor is responsible for the Material Operations at their assigned airport(s) including the terminal for material storage in support of Maintenance and LiveTV. The Supervisor interfaces with Station Managers and Maintenance Supervisors to fulfill material needs. In addition, the Supervisor coordinates performing the functions as set forth in the General Maintenance Manual and schedules Material Specialists in conjunction with Maintenance and LiveTV to support the terminal. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage the workflow of all Material Specialists stationed at the assigned airport(s)
  • Oversee all stock in the terminal, and hangar and support other departments with material needs
  • Monitors the Material Specialists that oversee the storage of material stock at assigned facilities
  • Monitors engine changes within the assigned airport
  • Works with Corporate Real Estate to obtain material storage space at the assigned airport as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
  • Two (2) years experience in a leadership role
  • One (1) year prior Materials Specialist or Warehouse experience
  • One (1) year of airline experience
  • Pass and maintain rating and be able to drive forklifts (4 (four) K to 18 (eighteen) K) tugs, trucks, and other vehicles
  • Successfully pass the Materials and General Maintenance Manual (GMM) training courses. Depending on the location you may be required to pass an International Air Transport Association (IATA) or Department of Transportation (DOT) approved Hazardous Materiel Training Course and maintain recurrent training of the course
  • Ability to use handheld two-way radios, headsets and/or phone
  • Available for overnight travel (50%)
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge for all Blue Materiel cities. 
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and a record that meets JetBlue Airways’ insurance standards
  • Must be in possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Pass Hazardous Material Training Course
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a team environment
  • Ability to think creatively
  • Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Management
  • One (1) year of Materials Lead experience
  • Finance background
  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
  • Demonstrated knowledge of inventory management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Upholding JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understanding how they relate to their duties and responsibilities


  • Computer and other office equipment
  • Ground support equipment to include; bag tugs, belt loaders, trucks, forklifts (4,000 and 18,000) box trucks and other related equipment
  • Ability to use handheld two-way radios, headsets, and/or phone

Work Environment:

  • Elevated noise levels in terminal areas and outdoor conditions
  • On-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in support of the stations for which they hold responsibilities
  • Irregular work shifts
  • Variety of weather conditions

Physical Effort: 

  • The position requires strenuous physical work. Heavy lifting, pushing or pulling of objects up to 100 pounds occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently. (Heavy)
