Supply Chain Management Job description

The Technical Operations (TechOps) Supply Chain Airframe, Labor, and Insurance team is seeking an experienced professional to join as a Specialist - TechOps Supply Chain Management, responsible for the execution of insurance claim project management by using robust data collection techniques and associated analysis.

The Specialist in this role will use supply chain descriptive analytics skills to identify, research, and file claims on insurable events related to Delta’s assets. Must be relationship-driven, solution-oriented, strategic, and a good problem solver. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and superior prioritization skills to enable complete ownership of projects. Must embody a high degree of initiative with a proven record of integrity and professional maturity. This role may also be called upon to provide analyses to Supply Chain Management teams and/or produce reports to highlight areas of opportunity for supplier performance improvement.

Summary of responsibilities (not comprehensive of all tasks):

  • Proactively monitor fleet performance, third-party vendor, and MRO activity for events causing damage to aircraft, engines, or spare parts
  • Identify, research, file, and collect all aircraft, engine, third-party, and spare insurance claims
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert on Delta’s insurance policies, keep insurance SOP up to date, create and maintain an ongoing insurance claim tracker for enhanced visibility
  • Establish strong, positive relationships and work collaboratively with frequent interaction with internal stakeholders (Risk Management and various TechOps departments) and externally with Delta’s insurer, suppliers, aircraft manufacturers, and third-party vendors
  • Perform economic research and compile information and make recommendations
  • Prepare data comparisons to establish cost impacts options
  • Provide total cost of ownership analysis and draw conclusions from that analysis


  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience
  • Comfortable with negotiations across all levels of management
  • Proficient in research and analysis and competent in financial analysis
  • Familiarity with the data requirements to make decisions for strategic sourcing
  • Ability to effectively create, or interpret complex spreadsheets and navigate, modify, and pull data from complex databases
  • Advanced knowledge and experience navigating SAP
  • Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for a U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Analysis, Finance, Operations, or Strategic Management (or another related degree) or 5 plus years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with contract language and contract compliance
  • Strong technical understanding of aircraft/engine maintenance and operation
  • Experience with aviation insurance and/or handling commercial insurance claims
  • Understanding of 1st and 3rd party insurance coverage
  • Ability to develop code to execute in Hyperion, SAS, BI tools such as Power BI and Tableau, and use process improvement techniques
