Accounting and Auditing Services Job description

The Senior Tax Accountant will become a key member of the Company’s corporate tax department and primarily supports and facilitates the income and franchise tax compliance, planning and accounting for income taxes, research and planning. The Senior Tax Accountant demonstrates strong tax knowledge and technology skills, including spreadsheet, research and compliance software, and the ability to meet deadlines. The Senior Tax Accountant supports the Tax Manager including assistance with supervision and review of work performed by staff. 

Essential Responsibilities 

  • Work with the Income Tax Manager and external advisors to ensure the timely and accurate filing of Federal and State US Corporate Income Tax returns and Franchise Tax returns  
  • Assist with timely preparation of the Company’s quarterly and annual US tax provision 
  • Proactively manage and maintain provision and compliance deadlines 
  • Prepare and review book-tax difference computations and tie-out of deferred tax assets/liabilities 
  • Remain current on tax law changes and changes in the business activities of the company 
  • Coordinate and assist with audits by tax authorities and internal/external financial audits  
  • Assist and support other team members of the tax function by performing ad hoc tax analyses, analytical support, and assistance with other special projects as needed 
  • Perform and review analysis and reconciliations of general ledger accounts  
  • Maintain technical tax skills pertinent to the position  
  • Support continuous improvements in tax processes to gain efficiency and ensure quality. Serve as a driver of positive change that helps broaden department’s impact. 
  • Document FATCA compliance and preparation of Form 1042  
  • Ensure appropriate documentation and internal controls are maintained  
  • Perform research to support tax compliance and planning  

Minimum Experience and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, tax or finance; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant experience
  • Three (3) years of corporate income tax or relevant experience, including working knowledge of corporate tax compliance and ASC 740 provision (formerly FAS 109) 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills 
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines  
  • High-Energy individual with strong work ethic 
  • Proficient in analytical, accounting and documentation skills with strong attention to detail  
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment  
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test 
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications 

  • Master’s Degree/CPA  
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite (including spreadsheet expertise), tax compliance and research systems  
  • Public accounting experience 
  • Experience with Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Software 
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
