Analyst Job description

The Senior Strategic Sourcing Analyst Technical Operations is responsible for partnering with JetBlue’s business units in the planning, development, and execution of strategic sourcing projects and commercial transactions involving airframe & component maintenance agreements and other related initiatives. The Senior Analyst leverages spend analytics and market intelligence to identify cost optimization opportunities by leading comprehensive Requests for Proposals (RFP) and developing commercial strategies in the sourcing of goods and services. The Senior Analyst will work closely with the assigned groups in the organization on the development and management of supplier strategies, as well as activities throughout the sourcing lifecycle, including contract management and performance management.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Independently lead major RFPs, and coordinate between internal JetBlue stakeholders as well as external Business Partners to execute key milestones and deadlines
  • Present work and recommendations directly to JetBlue Executives and Technical Operations Leadership
  • Executes strategic sourcing projects (using standard sourcing methodologies) for a variety of goods and complex services
  • Proactively monitors market trends that impact spending category and adapt strategies to mitigate risk
  • Analyzes historical spending to assist in the development of supply management and channel strategies
  • Develops category objectives and operational requirements with strong consideration for market conditions and opportunities
  • Performs analysis of category spending to assist in the development of sourcing strategies for the assigned category
  • Partners with business units and legal teams in the negotiation of contracts and agreements
  • Identifies sourcing opportunities to obtain optimal value for JetBlue and respective business units by estimating cost savings benefits and evaluating strategic sourcing performance metrics (KPIs)
  • Ensures compliance with operational requirements, internal controls and regulations
  • Partners with business units in developing budgets for external spending to identify risks and opportunities
  • Partners with Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team to review category spending to ensure budget compliance
  • Proactively monitors and interprets market intelligence trends that impact category groups and adapt strategies to mitigate risks
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, or related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant experience
  • Three (3) of strategic sourcing or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in procurement and strategic sourcing processes
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Financial, quantitative and analytical skills
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills; track record of capturing value and savings
  • Strong project and relationship management skills, including stakeholder and timeline management and meeting facilitation
  • Available for overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience managing supplier relationships
  • Relevant experience in aviation or a similar industry
  • Demonstrated ability to present information clearly and effectively to company senior leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to draft, interpret and communicate complex contractual documents such as Statements of Work (SOW) and Master Service Agreements (MSA)
  • Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet modeling and database administration
  • Experience with Source to Pay technology platforms

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
