Primary Job Duties

Ramp Agents are responsible for processing baggage between baggage areas in the airport facilities and aircraft, as well as receiving and dispatching aircraft. 

  • Routinely lift baggage, boxes, or cargo weighing 40 to 60 lbs when loading/unloading aircraft, and carts
  • Push/pull loaded and empty carts during loading/unloading operations
  • Couple/uncouple carts
  • Bend/stoop then crawl to move and stack/un-stack baggage in the aircraft
  • Complete safety checklists for motorized equipment
  • Drive and operate motorized equipment (e.g., conveyor belt)
  • Read and interpret aircraft load sheets, checked baggage tags
  • Operate a computer to enter and retrieve data
  • Count baggage being uploaded/unloaded during operations
  • Operate portable radio or headphones
  • Connect hoses to aircraft
  • Use signaling devices to communicate with co-workers or flight crew
  • Escort passengers and special needs customers safely and courteously
  • Ensure compliance with SkyWest and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must possess a valid state-issued driver’s license
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain credentials necessary for the position
  • Position-specific clearances include but are not limited to FAA, TSA, Port Authority, and U.S. Customs clearances required
  • Must be able to pass a pre-placement background check and drug screen
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

Physical and Other Requirements

  • Ability to lift heavy bags in excess of 60+ pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • A physical agility test may be required
  • Must be able to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and weather conditions for an extended period of time
  • Must be willing to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be flexible to work split shifts including early mornings, afternoons, and evenings
  • This is a full-time position, starting at $15.50 an hour
