General Manager Job description

Long-Term Fleet & Analysis Strategy is seeking an individual who will support Delta's fleet strategy. This position is responsible for analyzing, developing, and recommending value-accretive strategic actions to drive enterprise-wide value creation.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Support analysis to make fleet recommendations that are financially, operationally, and strategically sound.
  • Support 10-Year Narrowbody & Widebody Fleet Outlooks, including acquisition and retirement plans, highlighting future value drivers, risks, trade-offs, and strategic themes.
  • Assist in roadmap development to achieve the strategic vision by laying out the sequencing of events and dependencies and continually evolving the strategy based on new information.
  • Analyze the financial impact of fleet decisions across measures such as P&L, ROIC, NPV, and Cash/Capex.
  • Analyze the impact of various retirement strategies from an operational, financial, and commercial perspective.
  • Work cross-functionally to understand the impact of Delta’s Fleet Strategy on all areas of the business.


  • A Bachelor’s Degree and five years of relevant analytical work experience are required.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to draw concise conclusions from expansive data sets are required. 
  • Advanced Excel skills are required.
  • Self-starter who seeks challenging work and is able to balance detailed analysis with broader ambiguity while developing longer-term themes and initiatives.
  • Ability to communicate detailed analytical data through oral and written means to peers, cross-divisional team members, and all levels of management.
  • Understanding of overall business including various cost drivers and commercial initiatives preferred.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and leverage resources across all divisions at Delta.
  • Must be performing exceptionally in current position.
  • Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by the date of hire to be considered for a U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.

  • Coursework in engineering, economics, finance, or a related analytical field is preferred.
