Maintenance Technician Job description

Reporting to the Asset Management Team Lead, the primary focus of this role is to operate and maintain all systems and assets at Dublin Airport. The main requirement of this role is the safe provision of effective planned, and reactive maintenance, to support the various engineering systems and equipment assigned to the individual & team. This is a key role within the Asset Management function and in addition provides the role holder with the opportunity to develop through training and experience as a step-up team lead, from time to time.

We are currently seeking Mechanical fitters to work as multi-skilled maintenance technicians. The function of the role is to provide services for the operation and maintenance of the Dublin Airport baggage handling systems. Our asset base includes conveyors, x-ray machines, sortation systems, PLCs, SCADA, bar code scanning equipment and other equipment associated with a fully automated conveyance system. The roles are shift based 24/7 and based at Dublin Airport. They are 12-hour shifts across a 4-week cycle, 7am to 7pm & 7pm to 7am. Working in a team of multi-skilled technicians and operatives in a fully cross-skilled and cross-functional team, the successful candidate will be supported to develop all the requisite skillsets to flourish as a highly skilled technician.

Department Overview:

Asset Management forms part of the wider Infrastructure function at Dublin Airport. The sole purpose of this department and team is to maintain and care for the assets of Dublin Airport. Applications are now open for Electricians and Mechanical Fitters (Asset Management Technicians) to support a modernized approach to the technical asset management of facilities and systems in line with the vision of “keeping people moving through engineering excellence”.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working in multi-skilled environment support, operate, and maintain all DAP assets as required.
  • Ownership for the performance and uptime of the engineering systems & equipment assigned to the individual & team by delivering a comprehensive planned maintenance regime.
  • Reactive maintenance and repairs on all assets within the AM remit as directed by the Team Lead.
  • Maintain a clean & healthy work environment in all asset areas (cleaning, vacuuming, removal of waste, used lamps, filters etc.).
  • Produce and maintain comprehensive, timely, records and documentation to support asset performance metrics and ensure equipment/system availability targets are achieved.
  • Demonstrate clear, concise and prompt communication skills on system issues both within Asset Management and when liaising with other internal/external stakeholders, to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our assets to provide an excellent level of customer service.
  • Utilization of systems and technologies to enhance performance and record keeping.
  • Use of CMMS for the generation and recording of all planned, reactive, and arising corrective works to include recording of timecards, escalations and full completion of appropriate workflows, to improve the performance of the system’s reliability and internal processes.
  • Safely & competently operate engineering-related equipment as required.
  • Promote, report on and participate in a positive H&S culture, across initiatives, audits, incident reporting and safety checks and actively challenge those who would negatively impact H&S and quality standards.
  • Provide support and participate in all continuous improvement projects and trials on behalf of asset management.
  • Support Asset Management teams as required to familiarise, develop and upskill team competencies. Participate in all training required, either internal or external to daa, to ensure competence and compliance standards are met and sustained.
  • Attend toolbox talks and safe work procedure briefings.
  • Participate in completion, development & review of standards, documentation, reporting and work methods across Asset Management.
  • Support continued compliance with Dublin Airport Asset Management Standards, e.g. ISO55001/50001/45001 etc.
  • Flexibility with regard to working hours, shift patterns, out-of-hours call in’ and remote technical support.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Practical, logical aptitude for electrical & mechanical systems maintenance.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the building services operations & associated systems.
  • Excellent practical demonstrable fault-finding and trouble-shooting capability.
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral. (For H&S reasons, fluent English is essential due to the nature of radio communications).
  • PC literate, particularly MS Office.
  • Proven track record of the excellent team working/interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to adapt and be flexible in a constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to operate and maintain effective information systems (CMMS experience an advantage).
  • Experience in industrial automated control systems technology advantageous (PLCs, variable speed drives, Scada, network comms, motor control, etc.)
  • Knowledge of PM optimization is desirable.
  • Experience in some of the following is desirable: – Conveyor systems, automation, Building Service Systems (mech and/or Elec, Life safety, HVAC, Security, Public health systems, etc.)

Education & Qualifications:

  • Relevant technical qualification (National Craft Certificate/Standards Based Apprenticeship) in mechanical or electrical discipline or equivalent.
