Supply Chain Manager Job description

If you’re looking to embark on an exciting career in aviation, then now is the perfect time to apply! 2023 promises to be a big year for Jetstar as we grow our Engineering workforce, welcome more state-of-the-art A321LR Neo’s and continue on our mission to offer all day, every day low fares.

About our Engineering Team

The Jetstar Engineering Team are at the forefront of delivering our superior safety standards.  They are responsible for ensuring the airworthiness of our fleet of aircraft, including completing all required maintenance that must be carried out on time and to approved standards to ensure they take to the skies safely.  At every stage, all maintenance needs to be documented, detailed records maintained, with aircraft parts ordered and available at all times.

As part of our investment in our future, we have launched the Melbourne Engineering Precinct, which is the main maintenance hub of our network. Our team has the opportunity to work not only on Jetstar fleet, but customer aircraft – A320/21, B717 and A321 Freighter.

The Opportunity

We now have a unique opportunity to join our Jetstar Engineering Leadership Team in the role of Manager, Supplier Services.  Reporting to our Head of Engineering, the primary function of this critical role is to deliver contractual and commercial oversight of Tier 1 and Tier 2 service providers for the Jetstar Australia and New Zealand Engineering function.    You will deliver critical leadership to a team responsible for all Engineering commercial agreements, management of freight providers, warranty recoveries, insurance claims, purchasing, inventory and repairs activity, management of outsourced line and base maintenance and oversight of all aircraft cabin cleaning services.

As Manager Supplier Services, your responsibilities will include:

  • Sourcing engineering and maintenance suppliers and repair vendors
  • Leading the team managing all external maintenance including line and heavy maintenance for Jetstar and customer airlines
  • Directing AMO’s and service providers to ensure all activities are performed, in alignment with Jetstar policies and objectives
  • Management of contracted AMO, vendor suppliers, measuring KPI’s within the contract
  • Partnering with the CAMO Quality Manager to ensure effective regulatory oversight of all AMO’s
  • Developing systems and processes to ensure AMO training is managed and required documentation is available
  • Management of warranty, insurance and commercial recoveries for Jetstar and customer airlines
  • Providing recommendations to management regarding vendor management and sourcing strategies and sourcing options
  • Ensuring that External AMO service delivery meets stakeholder expectations including the Jetstar CAMO, the AOC holder and CASA
  • Providing input and advice on External Maintenance commercial requirements
  • Determining and managing the projected expenditure / cost of external maintenance
  • Leveraging commercial agreements and identifying cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Identifying and implementing key commercial engineering solutions relating to External Maintenance.
  • Delivering people leadership to a team of experienced managers and specialists, with an emphasis on ongoing development, coaching and team engagement.

Jetstar Airways is a heavily outsourced business and as such this is a critical position responsible for the oversight of several maintenance providers across multiple countries.  The position must provide necessary regulatory and commercial oversight of the services provided to the AOC from the supporting Approved Maintenance Organisations (AMO’s).  Consequently, the position is designated as a Responsible Manager under CASA Part 42 legislation and in the CASA approved Jetstar CAMO Exposition.
