Regional Manager Job description

Reporting to the Head Of Cargo, The Americas, the successful candidate will manage the development and execution of America's cargo agenda and serve as the strategic and operational leadership. The successful candidate will work within the countries remotely and in person, leading the transformation of the Air Cargo Value Chain and supporting cargo initiatives in the Americas Region. The candidate will be responsible for delivering the Organization´s mission to represent, lead and serve the airline industry through the achievement of key objectives and the management of activities based out of the Miami office. 

What would your day be like
  • Engagement with key stakeholders to understand the needs and priorities of the Americas Region.
  • Promote and implement trade facilitation activities in the region.
  • Create short- and long-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines
  • Diplomatically influence the direction of air cargo in the region with the authorities by introducing IATA cargo concepts and products that support the long-term objectives. (ie. CEIV, One Record, DG Autocheck)
  • Identify opportunities and key partners to support the development and regional adoption including Airlines, Freight Forwarders, Ground Handling agents (GHA), Shippers, and Authorities.
  • Promote industry standards for infrastructure, digitalization, sustainability, and safety throughout the region. 
  • Strive to become the region's established, trusted, and respected cargo expert. Act as the Cargo point of reference and support for the regional network.
  • Identify, support and deliver business development opportunities that promote the Organization´s commercial products and services, including the areas of Business Intelligence, Finance, Distribution, Consulting, Operations and Training at the local level.  
  • Support the regional IATA team, ensuring Cargo priorities and targets for the Region are delivered, and ensuring regional issues are incorporated in the global priority setting.
  • Support cargo and training events with the goal of growing participation in forums such as the CNS Partnership Conference, World Cargo Symposium (WCS), Focus Magazine, Security Forum, CEIV, Dangerous Goods, and other cargo workshops.
  • Support subject owners in product development based on requirements in the region and feedback from key stakeholders. 
  • Constant communication with the Cargo global team to identify opportunities for our region
We would love to hear from you if
  • College degree in business administration, political science or any other relevant discipline. An advanced degree would be an asset
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in the cargo arena with at least 5 years in an individual contributor managerial role in operations or consulting.
  • Strong knowledge of the air cargo operation and process (end-to-end process)
  • Proven experience in leading teams across with an exceptional talent for building relationships and managing projects.
  • Demonstrated experience and success with people management, with a focus on driving virtual teams.
  • A team player with strong communication skills. Well-developed negotiation and advocacy skills, and in possession of a high level of cultural intelligence.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, and highly demanding environment while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Must possess entrepreneurial flair, with a strong sense of commercial acumen. Prior experience in sales and marketing would be an asset.
  • Excellent IT skills including MS office along with sound knowledge of IT systems (OneRecord, Cargo XML, CASS) and their applications in the aviation and finance sectors.
  • Command of the Spanish language is required. A grasp of Portuguese and other languages spoken in the region would be helpful.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills in English and Spanish
