Airport Manager Job description
The Boston Facilities Manager ensures the care and upkeep of JetBlue’s Logan Airport facilities providing JetBlue Crewmembers with a safe, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to work and Customers with an award-winning ground experience. The Manager works in a fast-paced but safety-conscious, strategic and tactical environment. The Manager plans, budgets and schedules facility modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor materials and other related costs. Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Manager will also help define the strategic and efficient improvement of JetBlue’s facility maintenance programs.
Essential Responsibilities
- Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all JetBlue buildings at Boston’s Logan Airport during airline operating hours (24 hours/day).
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance (PM) programs for all mechanical and electronic equipment at JetBlue’s Logan Airport facilities including but not limited to terminal facilities and Hangar 9
- Develop and oversee the execution of all contracts related to the operation of JetBlue’s Logan Airport facilities including passenger boarding bridge maintenance
- Guide and lead facility projects from inception to completion
- Prepare and maintain operational budgets
- Maintain and cultivate professional working relationships with and oversee the work of business partners, contractors, and project managers and act as a point of contact and guidance regarding their work at Logan Airport
- Interface with local stakeholders and leadership on a daily basis to coordinate the project and operational activities.
- Develop construction and maintenance-related financial documents
- Prepare request for quotes (RFQ) and request for proposal (RFP) documents for design and construction services and manage the execution of construction projects including bidding, design, inspections and customer receivership
- Perform plan reviews and provide written comments on airport maintenance directives
- Review and interpret AutoCAD drawings
- Communicates effectively and regularly with JetBlue leadership and other key internal and external stakeholders
- Manage and lead a team of shift work supervisors.
- Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement by establishing clear performance expectations and accountability for Crewmembers, and leading daily Crewmember coaching sessions
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Five (5) years of facilities management experience
- Skilled and knowledgeable project manager
- Ability to display strong initiative, internal motivation, and a willingness to take on responsibilities beyond those explicitly defined.
- Skills in problem-solving with sound judgment to quickly resolve issues
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate a cooperative team approach
- Demonstrates proactive and clear communication skills
- Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
- Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field
- Ten years (10) years of facilities management experience
- Airline facilities experience
- Knowledge of building infrastructure, electrical systems, plumbing or HVAC systems.
- Understanding of cost-saving methods as related to maintenance and renovation.
- Knowledge of Massachusetts building codes

- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

- Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and company policies, procedures and risk controls
- Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
