The Flight Operations team includes aircraft pilots and pilot support.
Job overview and responsibilitiesThe Lead Engineer - Flight Operations is a specialist performance engineer responsible for all aspects of aircraft performance including takeoff and landing performance, Weight and balance system development, enroute performance, drift down, terrain clearance, depressurization, MEL performance effects, ETOPS, Development of performance data in support of the company flight manual, responsibility for aircraft performance in the UA Flight Planning system, development and update of aircraft performance factors for flight planning, development of payload analysis in support of the Network Planning and Charter departments, and support of all internal and external customers in the interpretation and analysis of aircraft performance data. The Lead Engineer will also be responsible for maintaining and developing airport and obstacle data, including NOTAM information and special engine-out departure procedures, for assigned airports
- Maintains and supports all aspects of Aircraft Performance and related data for United Airlines
- Manages Airport and Obstacle Data, including NOTAMS, for assigned airports
- Weight and Balance System Development and Maintenance
- Administrative Tasks
Qualifications
Required
- 10 years experience in airline flight operations engineering or related area, or significant experience in 4 of the following Aircraft Performance Engineering Disciplines: Aircraft W&B system development including OEW change tracking; Flight Planning/Enroute performance; Airport Analysis with Special Departure Procedure development; Aircraft Performance Data Development to support Company Flight Manuals, Dispatch and Load Planning; MEL Performance adjustments; Terrain Clearance/Driftdown/Depressurization.
- Must have expert knowledge of, and experience in four or more areas of Aircraft Performance Engineering (Aircraft W&B system development including OEW change tracking; Flight PlanningSystem Development and en route performance; Airport Analysis with Special Departure Procedure development; Aircraft Performance Data Development to support Company Flight Manuals, Dispatch and Load Planning; MEL Performance adjustments; Terrain Clearance/Driftdown/Depressurization.)
- Experience with Weight and Balance Systems and/or Flight Planning System
- Must have attended Boeing and/or Airbus Performance Engineering classes
- Engineering Degree from an accredited University
- Working knowledge of both Boeing and Airbus aircraft and engines
- Good Oral-Communication skills
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
Preferred
- BS in Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering
- Experience in functional development of flight planning systems or Weight and Balance systems.
- Experience in all aspects of Aircraft Performance Engineering
- Attended classes from both OEMs
- Good presentation skills
The salary for this position is from $115,140 to $155,430, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This range is based on a full-time schedule.
