General Manager Job description

The General Manager, Partnership Engagement and Growth will own and accelerate our strategy of driving acquisition and engagement of SkyMiles Members and growing diversified revenue streams through Delta’s non-air partnerships. This role leads a team of Partner Managers passionate about increasing Member engagement with partners, growing partnership revenue/profitability, and deepening relationships and customer value propositions with key partners across a portfolio of hotels, ground transportation, retail, and dining. This leader will need to be a strategic problem solver able to balance growth goals while taking an enterprise approach with our most strategic partners to build industry-leading experiences for customers, support broader commercial and company priorities, and drive new value for our partners across Delta. 

This position will report to the Director of SkyMiles Partnerships, work closely with the General Manager of Partnership Strategy and Business Development, and be part of the Merchandising, Ancillary, and Partnerships leadership team.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Drive revenue growth through partnership scale/scope, meticulous performance management, optimizing member engagement, contract management, and effective prioritization of resources
  • Own partner portfolio strategy to increase membership and engagement with dedicated SkyMiles members, increase the breadth and depth of “Delta as a Platform”, and strengthen the loyalty flywheel
  • Lead various parts of the business, including but not limited to product strategy, contract negotiation, operational development, marketing, budgeting, and partner relationship management with the goal to build engaging, accretive partnerships and compelling offers for Members
  • Apply innovative thinking to seek new ways to more deeply integrate with existing partners to drive additional engagement and revenue to the enterprise while growing adaptability with our closest partners
  • Realize full potential of “Delta as a Platform” ensuring the partnership portfolio drives additional value in travel ancillaries, on-board and day of travel experience, and member personalization
  • Work closely with stakeholders including our partners and agencies and also with internal collaborators such as Marketing, Social Media, eCommerce, Operations, IT, Legal, Customer Experience, Supply Chain, Global Sales and others to build, plan, and develop various marketing strategies/promotions to drive incremental Member engagement with partners
  • Develop and supervise new means and methods to increase the efficiency of marketing communications to members through iterative performance tracking
  • Lead and develop a team of partnership managers who are responsible for supporting a portfolio of partners and seeking new avenues for growth
  • Responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality presentations for senior leaders both inside and outside Delta

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Analysis, Finance, Technology, Strategic Management or a similar field or 7+ years of relevant industry/work experience is required
  • Strategic planning and marketing/sales management is required. Additionally, applying analytics to identify strategic opportunities in the best interests of the enterprise and liaising with key internal & external partners to bring these initiatives to fruition
  • Track record of portfolio performance management with goals of driving revenue growth and customer engagement through test and learn, prioritization, and optimization
  • Develop professional presentations that outline the results of analysis and recommendations in a clear, concise format
  • Negotiate contracts with a proven comprehension of rates and financial impact on every facet of the agreement
  • The ability to work efficiently, gain consensus and deliver sophisticated projects within matrix teams and with representatives from the Commercial, Technology, and Operational business units will be a key attribute of the successful candidate
  • Must be flexible and able to handle changing priorities with minimal direction
  • Must have shown leadership skills and the ability to develop & mentor others

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE (PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS)

  • MBA or Master’s degree with an emphasis in Marketing, Finance, or Business Strategy is strongly preferred
