General Manager Job description
The New York City (NYC) Controller will be responsible for all elements of financial controls pertaining to the LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and John F. Kennedy International (JFK) Redevelopments, currently totaling $5.6B. Additionally, this position will serve as the primary financial advisor and planner, including in-depth financial modeling, for any additional redevelopment scoped for JFK. This person will report directly to the Director of Corporate Real Estate (CRE) Finance and will interact daily with the Managing Director for NYC Redevelopment. This position requires the utmost business maturity and judgment, as it will work directly with CRE executive management to financially plan and manage Delta's largest airport redevelopment Programs while working hand-in-hand with Delta's Corporate Finance to ensure alignment with reporting, cash management, and audits. This role is expected to deliver all aspects of program financials, be responsive to any stakeholder requests in order to meet Delta's budget and schedule goals, and be 100% compliant with audit criteria.
The NYC Controller will also be responsible for financial controls for the nearly $80M annual operating budget of Delta's new 1 million sqft LGA terminal. In this capacity, this position will be responsible for planning 12-month budgets, forecasting performance, ensuring proper controls are adhered to, and working with CRE leadership to find creative ways to reduce our cost footprint at LGA.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Must work well within a matrix organization with key constituents on a day-to-day basis including Delta ACS, Delta Marketing, the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (PANYNJ), and other Program element key stakeholders to ensure the complete success of each individual element
- Support Program Director in providing weekly and monthly reporting of financial performance and document controls along with corrective action as required to meet key goals
- Provide reports to key stakeholders including Delta, PANYNJ, and third-party banks as required
- Work closely with the contracted construction manager to track overall Program performance, ensuring that financial metrics are tracking, and identify any issues that need to be raised to Delta senior leadership
- Participate in problem-solving with Program Directors as needed for cash flow, budgetary, and/or document control exposures
- Adhere to both strategic and tactical plans that create a safety-conscious environment resulting in employee safety and well-being
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)
- Strong understanding of airline and airport economics, financial acumen, data analysis background, and strong presentation skills required.
- Outstanding quantitative skills and communication skills; must be able to articulate complex quantitative and strategic initiatives to varied audiences.
- Multi-tasker who can perform at a high level of accuracy, meet deadlines, and excel under pressure.
- Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently as well as work well in a team environment.
- Must have a track record of integrity, intelligence and professional maturity.
- Strong relationship management skills are required.
- Must display a basic knowledge of all facets of Delta Air Lines and the airline industry.

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE (PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS)
- Bachelor's degree preferred with major in Business, Marketing, Finance or Economics, plus 3-5 years airline experience or MBA plus 1-2 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in Finance within the Airline or Construction industries is a plus
