This position is responsible for building strong business understanding and relationships to enable the delivery of technology solutions that deliver the intended business value in the spirit of the Agile Scrum Methodology. The Product Engineer’s primary responsibilities are to prioritize features according to business value as well as the user stories into an ordered backlog. They will also participate in Sprint ceremonies like Inception, Future State, Alignment, Sprint Planning, Retrospectives, User Story Writing and Refinement. It is important that they also establish and maintain effective partnerships with the Business and IT product teams.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conducting a sophisticated and detailed research of existing processes, systems, and desired objectives to meet the goals/intent of the assigned products
  • Work with Product Managers, and SMEs to prioritize feature development, based on the business value
  • Elicit and create initial epics/features and elaborate into user scenarios that clearly describe the functional and non-functional requirements
  • Deliver business requirements via artifacts such as epics, features, scenarios, acceptance criteria, process flows, wireframe diagrams, interaction diagrams, mockups/demos, etc
  • Collaborate with a multi-functional team inside a Scrum framework
  • Conduct work sessions and document new features, requirements, and strategies. 
  • Perform testing, track bugs, and enhancements and ensure issues are resolved before promoting to production environments.
  • Able to work on multiple initiatives and balance constantly evolving priorities. 
  • Use data and analysis to convey solution impact and support process-driven solutions. 
  • Develop business logic and critical metrics for incorporation into decision support models and tools. 
  • Construct a problem statement including problem description and improvement measures. 
  • Drill down beyond the problem surface to understand the root cause. 
  • Logically structure recommendations and supporting data to formulate a solid, logical and understandable business reason. 
  • Supply guidance to project planning and effort estimation within scope. 
  • Support the identification of risks and mitigation approaches. 
  • Collaborate with business unit leaders to develop and maintain internal customer relationships 

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)

5+ years experience in the following: 

  • Airline and/or Mobile experience highly desired
  • Mandatory experience in either eCommerce, UI customer-facing, or mobile
  • Knowledge of AWS server-side features is desired
  • Serve as a liaison between the customer community and the software development life cycle teams.
  • Lead the requirements-gathering process with customers, subject matter experts, and internal delta teams.
  • Document requirements using the right level of detail for the Engineering and Quality Assurance teams.
  • Clarify requirements and update use cases/user stories as needed throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Lead design review and change control meetings by setting the agenda and facilitating the discussion.
  • Create and monitor feature and bug cases in the case management system.
  • Create mockups, wireframes, and prototypes that illustrate current and future workflows.
  • Write release notes for new features that will be delivered to customers.
  • Work with a Software Engineer to analyze customer problems, how they relate to product strategy, and how they can be solved on a product’s roadmap.
  • Support the release management process by anticipating case-level risks.
  • Work with the Quality Assurance team to review test plans, test scenarios, and test cases
  • Work with Product Support and Training teams to write product documentation as needed.
  • Participate in efforts to improve software development life cycle processes.
  • Improve systems by studying current practices; designing modifications
  • Performing user acceptance testing.
  • Conducting meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings.
  • Written and verbal communication, including technical writing skills
  • Very good knowledge of BA responsibilities in the Agile framework
  • Proficient in writing user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Familiar with all agile ceremonies.
  • Knowledge of concepts of Service Oriented Architecture 
  • Understanding of Application Programming interface, and REST API 
  • Familiar with responsive web techniques and capabilities 
  • Ability to translate designs into technical requirements across API, UI, and metrics development 
  • Working knowledge of content management systems such as Adobe Experience Manager to manage content-driven app development solutions
  • Ability to translate design and user requirements into technical API structures (JSON/XML) and work with matrix teams to unit test and implement API solutions. Design and implement business metrics w/in the mobile native code to enable reporting via the Adobe Analytics 
  • Needs to exhibit an understanding and the ability to drive a development team through TDD (Test Driven Development) while building robust test automation to ensure quality products. 
  • Coordinate matrix teams often comprised of delta.com backend developers, program developers/QA and mobile-specific scrum teams to implement large capital projects for Fly Delta tech stack
