Our United Express team selects and manages our airline partners that carry the United Express name, ensuring a safe and profitable operation, and providing flights to smaller communities across the entire country.
Key Responsibilities:
The Director-UAX Operations is responsible for leading the UAX operation to best-in-class operational performance, inflight customer experience and safety. This role works with carrier senior leadership teams and internal United departments to plan for a successful operation, monitor outcomes, identify areas of opportunity and drive change. The Director works closely with the Director-UAX Tech Ops and the Director-UAX Network Operations.- Responsible for integrating all operational planning for 120 to 0 Days from Departure, identifying operational risks across the portfolio, and working with carriers and the NOC to mitigate risks and drive operational performance.
- Review operational implications of changes to network, schedule and recommend changes to deliver commercial and operational goals; lead strategies to mitigate other known changes to the operating environment (e.g., runway construction).
- Lead flight operations and inflight coordination between the carriers and mainline departments
- Analyze processes and operational data to identify root cause factors impacting the reliability of operational performance; support, manage, and implement operational improvement initiatives
- Design and oversee periodic reports to the operating departments focusing on trends and anomalies. Provide alternatives and/or recommendations for corrective action and quantify the anticipated gains
- Develop effective presentations and present initiatives and performance to senior leadership
- Team and individual talent development and alignment (i.e. team goals, mentoring, career development, etc.)
Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree
- Aviation, Finance, Network Planning, Program Management and/or operations field
- 7+ years of airline experience with proven executive leadership interaction, managerial and analytical skills
- Demonstrated experience with airline operations and strategic management activities
- Understanding, quantifying, and solving complex airline operational issues
- Adept at building relationships required for reliable airline operations
- This role is Hybrid with some time spent at our downtown Chicago location
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
- Master's degree
- MBA or related area
- 3 years of management and/or 1 year of experience specific to the position
