The Director of Team member Investigations leads a team of managers and investigators in creating a workplace and organizational culture of high performance, integrity, and employee engagement. Responsibilities of the role include defining, guiding, and implementing company policies, conducting all work environment investigations, and directing and conducting all activities related to US-based employee relations services. The position actively promotes and builds a culture of high standards by delivering timely and thorough investigations across the U.S, and partnering with key stakeholders across the enterprise. The role leads a team of HR professionals who have responsibility for consultation with employee representatives, and provide guidance on HR programs, policies, and practices to resolve queries and challenges across our business. The position is the subject matter expert in the Work Environment and is responsible for sharing insights and trends in these areas to progress our diverse work culture forward.
What you'll do
- Build a high-performing team focused on an integrated investigations strategy that is aligned with the Company’s vision and business strategies.
- Develop and sustain strong business relationships to promote good relations across the company and be a trusted advisor.
- Advising on employee relations matters and proactively conducting investigations into ER trends, synthesizing data, identifying root causes and recommending actions
- Establish Service Level Agreements and Standard Operating Procedures to fairly, timely, and consistently investigate team member relations concerns and allegations of workplace environment allegations.
- Collaborate with the data analytics team to build reporting trend analysis used to make recommendations for the workplace environment and share with People and business partners. Build and establish KPIs for investigators while partnering with key stakeholders.
- Partner with People Business Partners to identify trends, create action plans and track results,
- Manage all work with a high degree of confidentiality.
- Strong understanding of applicable federal and local employment laws and practices.
- Provide appropriate advice on team member issues, including performance management, and disciplinary issues, and partner with leadership, and labor relations during the grievance process.
- Drive and partner for Policy and procedure development/reviews to reflect our Why and brand and provide fair, compliant and equitable employment practices for both company culture and local laws.
- Act as a coach and provide general human resources guidance, advice and counseling in the areas of performance management and coaching/development.
- Develop and provide appropriate training in partnership with legal and labor relations to leaders.
- Champion a more diverse workplace by promoting initiatives, ways of working and behaviors which will drive change
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- At least 10 years experience in HR, with a minimum of 5 years leading a team of employee relations and investigation experts/specialists or equivalent.
- Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent experience/training; Graduate degree in HR, Business, or related field experience preferred
- Periodic travel is required.
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- High level of knowledge/understanding of local, state and federal employment law and union relations practice
- An ability to drive the strategic HR agenda with senior leaders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels within the organization including presentation skills.
- Leadership skills that drive high performance in line with company values. A strong team player who acts collaboratively within the HR function and large business.
- Strong data orientation, analytical, and interpretative – able to translate people analytics into valuable business insight.
- Able to prioritize multiple requests and then take charge to meet the priorities
- Ability to consistently practice outstanding business judgment with unquestionable ethical practices.
- Strong commercial acumen, understanding and knowledge of various CBAs.

Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- Extensive experience in managing complex ER cases and partnering with senior stakeholders
- Commercial exposure to management of reputationally sensitive issues
- High level of integrity and conscientiousness. Known for being straightforward, honest and discreet.
- Excellent judgment with a logical, meticulous and organized approach to decision making
- On projects, the ability to gain commitment, drive things forward, be highly organized and ensure deadlines are met
