Today, we’re busy planning for tomorrow. We look to the future to guide the way we innovate, helping us stay relevant and responsive in an always-evolving industry.

Our smaller businesses are an important part of the Qantas Group so no matter where you fit in, we come together with pride to deliver the best and safest experience for our customers.  The success we’ve achieved hasn’t been a matter of luck.  It’s a direct result of our strategic leadership.  This means taking accountability for driving results, being competitive and influencing outcomes.

You’ll be challenged to do more with less and make the impossible possible. Along the way, you’ll have plenty of fun, meet amazing people and have experiences like no other.

As a Base Operations Manager, you will be responsible for providing remote support for QantasLink and Qantas’ jet regional airports including 12 Regional lounges, Ground Service Equipment (GSE), and logistical support for 950 regional airport contracted staff.  The position oversees the QantasLink performance management framework of third-party suppliers within an airport operation and provides change and project support across the QantasLink and Qantas regional airports during transformational projects including customer service, new port start-ups and ground handler cutovers.

You will also be responsible for managing IT issues, signage, uniform orders, onboarding new contractors into appropriate systems and ensuring appropriate training for ground operations is followed. The role is required to work closely with other Airport team members and Qantas Customer Experience to identify and implement business improvement initiatives that will improve customer service delivery and drive down costs in the regional airport ground handling operation

You’ll have

  • Previous airport operational experience (preferred)
  • Analytical approach to problem-solving and capacity to produce results within a given time frame
  • Commitment to a continuous improvement philosophy
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills
  • Strong communications skill (both Verbal and Written) with the ability to influence at all levels
  • The ability to work full-time to cover any annual leave periods
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with conflicting priorities
  • Strong computer skills with intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel

Why Qantas?

You’ll join a team where creativity and passion are encouraged. Our people come together to allow us to dream big and deliver successfully.

There are many different opportunities across our team, which means you’ll be able to grow both personally and professionally at Qantas. Your development is a priority for us – so that you can maintain the high standards our customers have come to expect and can continue to develop over time.

You’ll be supported from day 1 with on-the-job training and coaching as well as our formal training opportunities. While you may start in this role, we’ve got a great track record of supporting our people to take their careers in so many different directions, the destinations are endless.

The Qantas employee benefits program offers amazing benefits that extend well beyond travel.

  • We love to travel: Enjoy heavily discounted air travel within Australia and across the globe, both for you and your family and friends, as well as exclusive deals on accommodation and holidays.
  • We have flexible leave options: Make use of leave and flexible working opportunities including 14 weeks paid parental leave and the option to purchase additional paid leave for eligible employees.
  • We’ll give you access to thousands of rewards: Through our partnerships, we can offer you discounts across shopping, food and wine, insurance, health and wellbeing, leisure and entertainment. You can also take advantage of our salary packaging program including motor vehicles, eligible portable electronic devices and professional memberships.
  • We’ll support your well-being: Whether it’s learning to better support your own and others’ mental health, our interactive wellbeing app or your very own tailored nutrition plan.

Qantas is an equal-opportunity employer, so by coming to work for us, you’ll be part of an organisation that encourages diversity, supports charities and environmental initiatives. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and people of all backgrounds to apply.
