Aircraft Maintainer Job description

Join the Jetstar team in a pivotal moment in our history. 2023 promises to be a big year for Jetstar as we grow our Engineering workforce, welcome more state-of-the-art A321LR Neo’s and continue on our mission to offer all-day, everyday low fares.

We are currently seeking Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME) to join our high-performing AME team in Melbourne.  As an AME at Jetstar, you will carry out aircraft maintenance in accordance with Jetstar Airlines 145 Approved Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE), Jetstar Safety Management System (SMS), Maintenance Control & Procedures Manual, Company Policies and Civil Aviation Safety Authority regulatory requirements.

About our Engineering Team

The Jetstar Engineering Team is at the forefront of delivering our superior safety standards.  They are responsible for ensuring the airworthiness of our fleet of aircraft, including completing all required maintenance that must be carried out on time and to approved standards to ensure they take to the skies safely.  At every stage, all maintenance needs to be documented, and detailed records maintained, and aircraft parts ordered and available at all times.

Our Melbourne Precinct

As part of our investment in our future, we have launched the Melbourne Engineering Precinct, which is the main maintenance hub of our network.   Our engineers are uniquely placed to enjoy a career that sees them developing skills across all functional areas of maintenance – line, intermediate, and base activity. Our team also has the opportunity to work not only on the Jetstar fleet but customer aircraft – A320/21, A330, B717, B737, and A321 Freighter.

The Opportunity

Your new role as an AME will see you deliver quality and reliable maintenance and rectification services to a high standard while ensuring all WHS and Quality policies and procedures are adhered to. This role will see you working with a range of specialist teams enabling you to provide excellent engineering standards on a solid foundation of safety, quality, reliability, and service.

We’re a high-performing team, and we each have the opportunity to add value and make an impact on the business.

To succeed in this role, you will need to:

  • Have completed Certificate IV in Aeroskills, with previous A320/321 experience desirable
  • Have excellent time management skills and a proven ability to effectively manage me and others
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Have experience in Base Maintenance
  • Have a proven commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Have proven problem-solving skills and the ability to handle competing demands, particularly when under pressure and/or managing multiple stakeholders; and
  • Hold a valid driving license and the ability to obtain an Airside Drivers Licence

Leadership qualities, a strong work ethic, and an inclusive mindset are valued attributes, that will provide you with opportunities to extend yourself further within Jetstar. Taking ownership of your own performance, as well as that of your team is critical. Whether we’re working individually or as a group, we challenge ourselves to continually develop and deliver exceptional results.

Inclusion and Diversity

Jetstar is an equal-opportunity employer, so by coming to work for us, you’ll be part of an organization that encourages diversity, and supports charities and environmental initiatives. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, and people of all backgrounds to apply. If you have any support or access requirements, we encourage you to advise us at the time of application.

Our Culture

Jetstar is alive with a sense of adventure. Day in and day out, our teams search for new places to fly, new ways to add value and new ideas to improve performance. If you love the road less traveled, you’ll love working here because ours is a team who innovates every day, thrive on delivery, support each other and celebrate our successes. You’ll be supported to challenge, anticipate and explore while your work will connect people and enrich lives. We encourage diversity and aim to create an environment where our employees feel valued, respected and enabled.

Our Benefits

Team members have access to heavily discounted fares to destinations all over the world – not only for team members but for their favorite travel companions too. Our staff travel benefit includes discounts on airfares, accommodation, car hire and travel insurance for both domestic and international travel.
