This job is a member of the Certification Engineering and Regulatory Standards Team within the Technical Operations Division. This team manages American Airlines Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) team, performs certification activities ranging from approval of Supplemental Type Certificates (STC), major repairs (MRA), and coordinating the aging aircraft inspection program. This position’s primary responsibilities with be to act as a liaison between AA and the FAA on the aging aircraft program and perform the duties of MRA coordinator and provide support to the Certification team and ODA administration. 

What you'll do

Engineer L2/L3

  • Coordinate the aging aircraft inspection program between the ODA, Planning, and the FAA.
  • Oversee the replacements of airworthiness certificates on behalf of the ODA.
  • Coordinate MRA activity between the ODA and the Structural Unit Members.
  • Review ODA process and procedures and look for opportunities for improvement and automation.
  • Assist the Certification team on various aspects on STC projects
  • ODA training focal – organize and help build and lead required ODA Training Sessions

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related degree

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​3-6 years experience as an engineer with airline or aircraft OEM.
  • Experience in aircraft certification or ODA
  • Experience authoring, revising, and creating Engineering documents and Procedural manuals
  • Knowledge of CFRs (parts 25 and 121), maintenance programs, engineering manuals

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • ​Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Excellent analytical, technical writing, problem-solving, communication, planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work well with varied groups of teams and individuals
  • Must be self-motivated and disciplined in their work ethics
  • Familiarity with Sharepoint
