Air Traffic Controller Job description

Job Purpose/Overview
NATS have an exciting opportunity for experienced Air Traffic Controllers to join the ATC team at MOD Aberporth and the Ranges. The primary ATC task is to provide a safe and efficient radar service at Aberporth and the Ranges. The services provided are radar-based UK Flight Information Services.
Other duties:
Controllers will be based at Aberporth and there will be a requirement to detach to either the MOD Hebrides or MOD West Freugh Ranges to support the operation. These detachments are usually of short duration and spread throughout the year (deployment allowances will apply). Full training will be provided for operations within the Danger Areas.
Essential skills and experience:
- Applicants are required to hold a valid UK Approach Radar (APS) or UK Area Control Surveillance (ACS) rating and must validate this at Aberporth as part of their continued employment.
- All applicants must hold a current Class 3 UK CAA Medical Certificate.
- Applicants must possess strong team working skills and the ability to think laterally and remain calm under pressure.
- Successful candidates will be required to undertake a criminal record check and provide a five-year work reference history. Applicants will be required to comply with both MOD and QinetiQ security requirements for working in this role.
